Outstanding Delegate Award goes to our student, Arda Soydan

One of our senior students, Arda Soydan, has won two ‘outstanding delegate’ awards from the Izmir University of Economics Model United Nations (ECOMUN 2014) and Istanbul Technical University Model United Nations Conference(ITUMUN 2014). In addition to ECOMUN and ITUMUN, he has participated in more than six MUN conferences in two years and received ‘honourable mention’ awards.

Arda shared his experiences with us and he stated that I participated on the events that improved my personal attributes and professional skills. First of them was Model United Nations conferences that made me both  more sociable, and by consolidating my self-confidence, it developed my speaking ability before crowds and communication skills in foreign language as well as in since I represented different states in different committees in each conference, I gained siginificant experience and knowledge from specific issues and countries’ foreign policies that have helped me during my academic and education life. At the same time, therefore, I gained some expertises or increased my level on them such as diplomatic qualities, cooperation, reconciliation, negotiation, mediation, crisis and conflict management. As I participated in 6 MUNs, in my just second and third MUN experience, I brought the first and the second Outstanding Delegate Awards to my university then ended up with one Honourable Mention Award. I got them in ECOMUN 2014 (Izmir University of Economics) as the Delegate of Pakistan in INTERPOL, ITUMUN 2014 (Istanbul Technical University) as the Delegate of Tunisia in the Arab League and HASMUN 2015 (Kadir Has University) as the the Delegate of Lithuania in NATO.
